These terms cover Tinify.dev, including its web tools, API, and Tinify for Mac. The service is operated by Larsen Utvikling, Stian Larsen, organization number 937 464 819, Martin Lillebys vei 60, 1639 Gamle Fredrikstad, Norway. Tinify.dev is independent and is not affiliated with Tinify B.V. or TinyPNG.
Acceptance
By accessing the web tools, creating an account, sending API requests, or downloading, installing, linking, or using Tinify for Mac, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the relevant service or install or link the app.
Description of service
Tinify provides tools for image compression, resizing, cropping, and format conversion. The web tools and API process selected uploads on Tinify infrastructure. Tinify for Mac processes files you authorize locally and can provide optional linked-account capabilities. Features may change as the product, operating systems, and security requirements evolve.
Mac app license
Subject to these terms, Tinify grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Tinify for Mac for your own lawful image-processing work. You may not circumvent its security or entitlement controls, redistribute the app as your own, sell access to it independently, or reverse engineer it except where applicable law expressly permits that activity.
Acceptable use
- Do not upload or process illegal content or content you do not have the right to process.
- Do not overload, disrupt, abuse, or attempt unauthorized access to the service, another account, or its infrastructure.
- Do not bypass rate limits, quotas, device limits, signed updates, or account and entitlement controls.
- Automated use must stay within the documented limits of the current plan and interface.
Local files and results
The Mac app processes files and destinations you select or authorize. You are responsible for your inputs, automation rules, output choices, and backups of important originals. Compression does not guarantee a smaller file; resizing, cropping, or conversion can produce a larger one. Review results before replacing or distributing important files.
API keys, accounts, and devices
Keep account credentials, device access, and API keys secure and treat API-key secrets like passwords. You are responsible for activity under your credentials, devices, keys, and account. Keys and linked devices can be revoked through the available account controls.
Manual local Mac processing is available without an account. Account-linked capabilities—including paid automation, preset sync, and Desktop Impact sync—depend on the current plan, a valid device link, and an unexpired entitlement. Capabilities and device limits may differ by plan. Revoking a device, losing entitlement, or suspending an account can stop linked features without deleting your local files, rules, or presets. Desktop Impact does not consume API quota or create overage charges.
Plans and billing
- The current free API tier includes 500 successful operations per month.
- Paid plans and applicable overage are billed by Paddle, acting as Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment processing and applicable taxes.
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; refunds and any withdrawal right follow applicable law and the terms shown at purchase.
See the pricing page for current plans and the developer docs for API details.
Updates and compatibility
Mac updates are distributed separately from in-app campaign content and must pass signed-feed and signed-artifact checks. Tinify may provide security, compatibility, or feature updates over time, but does not promise a fixed support lifetime. Version 1.0 requires macOS 14 or later. The processor architectures currently released and supported are listed on the downloads page.
Intellectual property
You keep your rights to the images you process and the results returned to you. We claim no ownership of your images or output. The Tinify.dev name, service, site, and software remain ours or our licensors'.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation or a guaranteed reduction in file size. This does not exclude warranties or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tinify is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or lost data, profit, or revenue arising from use of the service. You remain responsible for keeping copies of important files. Nothing in these terms limits liability or mandatory consumer rights where doing so is unlawful.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service, unlink a Mac, revoke a device, or delete your account through the available controls. We may suspend an account, revoke linked-device entitlement, or terminate access when necessary to address a material breach, abuse, security risk, legal requirement, or non-payment, subject to mandatory law.
Governing law
Norwegian law governs these terms. Disputes may be brought before the competent Norwegian courts, without removing mandatory consumer protections or any right to use another competent forum where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will change the "Last updated" date and give appropriate notice of material changes where required. If applicable law requires renewed acceptance, we will request it before the change binds you.
